{"id":4417,"date":"2026-06-20T12:58:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/racingsport.xyz\/?p=4417"},"modified":"2026-06-20T12:58:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T12:58:10","slug":"world-cup-2026-canadas-ismael-kone-grateful-after-surgery-on-broken-leg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/racingsport.xyz\/?p=4417","title":{"rendered":"World Cup 2026: Canada&#8217;s Ismael Kone &#8216;grateful&#8217; after surgery on broken leg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Canada midfielder Ismael Kone has thanked his team-mates and fans for their support after having surgery on a broken leg.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 24-year-old sustained the injury during the World Cup co-hosts&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/live\/cgqj0zw4nn9t\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">thumping 6-0 win<\/a> over Qatar on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The former Watford player was caught late and badly by Assim Madibo as he challenged for possession, with players on both sides looking shocked as Kone received lengthy treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Sassuolo midfielder was able to wave to the crowd as he eventually left the pitch on a stretcher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Canada Soccer says Kone will miss the rest of the tournament, but he is expected to make a full recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZxTLkwAb_X\/\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">He said on Instagram:<span class=\"visually-hidden ssrcss-i2z2ig-VisuallyHidden e16en2lz0\">, <!-- -->external<\/span><\/a>  &#8220;Your love and support has been felt, honestly thank you so much. You can&#8217;t even imagine how grateful I am to everyone who reached out and that has me in their prayers<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I wanted you to know that I love you guys from the bottom of my heart and our brotherhood is everything to me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;What you guys did yesterday will stay with me forever.
