Swansea City great and former Wales international Herbie Williams has died aged 85.<\/b><\/p>\n

After joining as a 15-year-old in 1955, Swansea-born Williams played for his local club between 1958 and 1975.<\/p>\n

His tally of 513 league appearances is the third highest of any player in the club’s history.<\/p>\n

In all he played 608 times for Swansea, scoring 129 goals.<\/p>\n

The Championship side said they were “deeply saddened” by the death of “one of the club’s most loyal servants”.<\/p>\n

“A gracious, humble man, with a deep love and affection for Swansea – city and club – Herbie will be greatly missed by all who knew him,” the Swans added. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
